My name is Walker Stanton. I am a graduate student at the University of Michigan working with Dr. Jacinta Beehner. I am from Texas where I completed my Bachelor’s of Science in Neuroscience and Anthropology. My previous work analyzed behavioral flexibility in the locomotion of neotropical primates and how monkeys cope with discontinuous forest canopies. After this work, I taught agricultural science to elementary school students.
In my current studies, I look at the flexibility of the stress response. My research is guided by a “reaction norm” approach to assess within and between individual differences in glucocorticoid responses to a stressor. This work is done by integrating hormonal, behavioral, and environmental data to assess stress responding. With this approach, I hope to ask questions about individual differences in reaction norms and whether these reaction norms can predict differential fitness outcomes.
